I haven't seen them add much beyond confusion and folks yelling to leave the kudzu alone, wouldn't miss it if it were gone. (Clearly it must be adding value for folks though, because you'll get people dragging corpses to become kudzumen with fervor.)

When it comes to removal though, something I've been thinking is if we wanna move some of the better stuff we remove to a code scrap bin. Like we're not gonna use the token vendors for nuke ops or sec, but it's fairly good code and easy to see someone adapt for an azone or gimmick round.

Youre 100% right on the "keep old code around" front, and I really really like the idea of a "code scrapyard" with a bunch of unused template code, especially for stuff we might want to revisit.

Token vendors are a perfect example of that, in particular - that slots in rather nicely with the concepts of Company Scrip versus Money & perhaps could be a good way to organize and manage a sort of inventory saving thing without adding more round-start load.... but i dogresss (a tangent for dog's) anyway your right.

I think ~/code/modules/unused is a good spot to start moving fragments.

update: did the thing

kept the pods, but they gib bodies
- its value for the traitor
- its an anticloning hazard for the dorks
win win

reading old threads (for some value of old, seriously some year old posts feel like they were made last month and this feels like it was made a full year ago)

if i delve into the mob AI thing
we might be able to turn this into PvE opportunity

like i dig the current disincentive of "it will gib you" so people pull bodies away and people aren't tripping and falling by accident to become plant nerd

but plant nerd + it's not players + it's hostile = no ambiguity, no you can't be one, please beat them up seems like it could be a good compromise

can't clone because the brain's been replaced entirely with vines, you don't get to play as the plant nerd, not a zombie self-antag outbreak since it's not contagious... i dunno!
